200 🎯 Books, Movies & Shows - Mission accomplished 2024 💁🏻‍♀️👊🏻😁

Image
December 2024 After a couple of years of tracking the number of books I read/ movies & shows I watched (like everything in life this information is best plotted in an excel 😉🤣), I hit the target 🎯 of 200 this year ..drum roll 😎.  This practice of meticulously recording everything in an excel and setting the target 🎯 of 200 Books, Movies and Shows stemmed from the place of reclaiming  me-time  in this chaotic world of juggling multiple priorities.  (Source: Author's file photo) (Source: Google) I have always been a voracious reader, and there is something magical about being teleported (literally) to new worlds.  A few tips on how I consistently continued to read/ watch interesting stuff in pursuit of this milestone:                                                           ...

Millennial dinosaurs - Relationship goals ;)

Image
November 2017 (Source: Google)  The first time I read about relationship goals, my instant neuron parallel connection was its eerie similarity with project management - defining milestones, working together to achieve them and voila, mission accomplished! Jokes apart, relationship goals can never be generic or standardized, but as each year passes by, its amazing how life evolves and what we discover about oneself.   So that got me thinking about the relationship goal posts for millennial dinosaurs - millennials on account of being born in the early 1980's but also termed dinosaurs on account of a host of reasons, including a) never seen an episode of GoT (gotcha.. Game of Thrones) b) not having an instagram account in this era of  finstas (fake instagram accoounts) and rinstas  (real instagram accounts, distinct and separate from finstas I am told).   Though its not a yearly list, here's our list of the top relationship goals achieved in 20...

Quest for semblance of sanity - all in a day's work!

April 2017 (Source: Google) 6.30 a.m: As surprising as it sounds, aamchi Mumbai has finally accomplished what apna Hyderbad wasn't able to - am ready to take on the world by waking up at 6.30 in the morning ;). Never in my life did I stir a second before 7.30 a.m and here my maid comes at 7 a.m, so there you go -- power of Mum'bai' :P 6.40 a.m: I have become the poster girl for healthy food (yes, a far cry from the fried food and chocolates staple diet ;). I have protein for lunch every day - simply put, dal  (love the different types of dal  I get to experiment with). I put the dal in the pressure cooker and sit down to enjoy my cuppa coffee and contemplate on the road to inner peace. Its the last day of a hectic month and I am looking forward to the journey home. (Source: Google) 6.50 a.m: But as usual, the quest for sanity is a bumpy ride - my musings are cut short by the whistle of the pressure cooker acting like a spray jet. Having a pr...

Maids of honour

August 2016 (Source: Google) Growing up, like so many other millennials, I did not fully comprehend the patience, time and effort in managing a household - two kids who surprisingly turned out fine (even though I say it ;) and a husband (who I guess will always be the oldest kid on the block requiring adult supervision :P). Mom was a wonderful orchestrating magician; and obviously when things function smoothly, it does seem like a wonderland production - delicious steaming delicacies that make an appearance even before hunger pangs appear, used plates and crockery that magically travel to the wash basin:P, a closet brimming with freshly laundered clothes & Dad being the genie who used to get the groceries and household supplies ;). And a maid who had been with us for more than a decade completed the setting. Even in this background, I must say that there were clear ground rules - simple ones that unfortunately seem non-existent nowadays - for instance, just because the m...

The world is a magical place full of people waiting to be offended by something ;)

July 2016 (Source: Google) I diligently followed the recent episode between Priyanka Chopra and an AIB member, whose BMF (Brain to Mouth Filter :P) is possibly non-existent (unlike mine which atleast is partly functional ;) consequently making AIB the roast of the nation :P. An AIB member made fun of PC's American accent, and was trolled mercilessly by all and sundry. Surprisingly, his 'knight in shining armor' turned out to be PC herself, who ended the debate by saying "Guys it was a joke!! From me and him!! Comedy is the smartest form of entertainment!!" Kudos gal...Way to go girl 👍 In the daily course of life, we all come across people who are offended by everything under the sun (and the moon, and the clouds) -- the co-worker who looks daggers at me because I went for my cuppa coffee after she specifically told me to go on as her work would take time (hell, what was I supposed to do - hound her like a stalker); the bus mate who believes that t...
